Jon Malaxetxebarria takes the podium for Hallam Sinfonia’s Legends and Landscapes, a programme that explores folklore, storytelling, and vivid musical imagery.
“I’m really excited about this concert,” he said. “It’s a programme full of colour and contrast, where each piece creates a completely different world.”
The concert opens with the vibrant energy of Polovtsian Dances, followed by the sweeping, lyrical landscapes of The Land of the Mountain and the Flood. The programme culminates in Scheherazade, Rimsky-Korsakov’s masterful orchestral suite inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, renowned for its dazzling colours and storytelling.
“For me, it’s about bringing these stories to life and shaping the different atmospheres across the programme,” Jon added. “It’s a real journey for the audience.”
